Medical Journal gives an award Best Ideas to a study led by Dr. Berta Ortiga

The goal was to improve efficiency through demand planning.

Demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of the surgical block and the centralized management of the waiting list in the demand planning and the reduction of the waiting time is the main goal of the study The Efficient Hospital : planning the demand through centralized management of the waiting list and the surgical block, led by Dr. B. Ortiga, Deputy Director at the University Hospital Bellvitge.

The aforementioned study has been included in the list of “The Best Ideas of Health 2012″, made by Medical Journal which rewards innovative initiatives implemented in the field of medicine and health in Spain.

An agile management of the waiting list for life-threatening procedures is the main concern for any direction board. The demand planning of hospitalization prevents last-minute cancellations due to lack of bed and the loss of surgical resources.
