A group of experts from the AIDS Study Group (GeSIDA), co-led by Dr Podzamczer, have drawn a consensus document about clinical management of neurocognitive disorders associated with HIV infection with a view to helping these patients. “This document, which is intended for clinicians and psychologists  who are devoted to these patients’ attention, provides those tools that enable them to deal with a problem that is increasingly common. Active and preventive management of neurocognitive disorders is a fundamental factor in the maintenance of quality of life and survival rate of HIV-infected patients.”

The inclusion and involvement of a neuropsychologist in the VIH/AIDS units, who can provide a specialised intervention in the whole process, is also of special importance.
